One listen to the soulful sounds of Indianapolis-based Josh Kaufman and it's easy to understand how he grabbed the championship of The Voice last night during its sixth-season finale. His white Jewish soul styling might have left you scratching your head, but texting or calling in your vote nonetheless when you first heard him. He debuted on the hit series on March 10th, singing George Michael's One More Try.
At 38 years old, the bespectacled, fedora-wearing husband and father of three doesn't fit the standard teen idol mold and looks more like an edgy-dressed accountant than a vocalist heartthrob. But giving the reality TV series its due, Kaufaman won for the voice -- his comin'-from-the-core, smooth-as-a-ribbon, moving voice. And last night he made this state proud as he wowed audiences again, this time with his show-stopping performance of Stevie Wonder's Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours).
As Sky Blue Window sends out a Mazel Tov to this Indy talent, take a listen to some of his best performances from the series and learn more about his own recording label, Rocketship Park, for his original works. You can also catch him later this evening as he performs on the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
