Whether it's sitting down with an instructor for one-on-one lessons or simply belting out irresistible sing-alongs, children benefit from early engagement with music, and this is something the folks at Indy's AYS, Inc. are fully aware of. Studies point to the positive effects musical experiences can have on a child's development, impacting everything from reading skills to self-esteem. For this reason, AYS is holding its third annual Audio Mask event.
This Saturday at The Speak Easy, the Indianapolis organization will present an eclectic lineup of local music talent, with proceeds from the laid-back night benefitting music enrichment in the not-for-profit's after-school and early childhood programs. The event's 2014 8-Bit-themed edition will feature live music from The Brown James, Dino DNA, Didache and Adam Gross, as well as comedic entertainment from Steve Giles and a special performance from Mr. Daniel. Craft beer and tasty noshables will also be available thanks to Upland Brewing Company and Poccadio Grill.
