Spirograph on Steroids



Copenhagen artist Eske Rex created a contraption composed of pendulums, drawing arms and moveable joint: his Drawing Machine. The pendulums’ gliding, rhythmic movements guide ball point pens over paper, creating large-scale drawing that look like spirographs on steroids – large, curving shapes composed of overlapping lines.

Drawing Machine is art in action, with the process at least as important as the product. And, beyond the lovely, simple drawings, watching the machine’s steady, consistent motions and the lines they create feels almost meditative – a little Zen break that you can take yourself by watching the video below.
