Small Venues, Large Impact

They may be small, but they are full of heart. When people think of the musical culture of Indianapolis, it is likely that the aspect of small, all-ages venues is overlooked. Three venues in particular, the Emerson Theater, the Hoosier Dome, and the Irving Theater, stand out as centers for a community of music-lovers.

These venues, with capacities ranging from 200 to 700, provide spaces in the community you can't find anywhere else. These are places for local bands to hone in on their performances and for local fans to be created for everything from hip-hop to punk rock in a safe drug- and alcohol-free zone. Presenting opportunities to create relationships within the scene, and even allowing space for local artists to show off their works, each venue thrives on the connection of people gathered for the same reasons.
