When 50-plus artists gather in any one space, the results are bound to be pretty impressive. But when they're challenged to create perfect little pieces of art on-site and with an audience, things get a little more exciting. On Thursday, Dec. 11, the Indianapolis Museum of Art hosted a Monster Drawing Rally, one event in the institution's evolving public programming efforts. Local artists printed, painted and pastel-ed more than 175 11" x 14" pieces, 114 of which were sold for $35. The remaining works will be available at the museum's upcoming Winter Solstice event. All the proceeds will benefit a forthcoming teen program.
Sky Blue Window's frequent contributing photographer Whitney Walker attended the rally, and she captured the range of styles and works, from a turntable-assisted drawing to a brightly hued illustration.
