Movie Review: Her

In a not-so-distant future, a man purchases the newest computer that comes with a learning operating system with artificial intelligence. It speaks with Scarlett Johansson's voice and is clever and curious with a sweet sense of humor. And before long, the man falls in love in Spike Jonze's latest film "Her."

NUVO reviewer Ed Johnson-Ott vehemently defends the film's quality, calling it "transcendent but accessible."

"The first thing I want you to know about 'Her,' the best movie of 2013, is that it is not about technology. It's about how people relate, and right now we do a lot of our relating through the use of various high-tech devices. 'Her' prominently features a high-tech device, but it's about the relationship between a writer that lives in Los Angeles and the person that lives in the device ... Jonze has made a story all his own, an original love story that looks into the near future and sees a warm place where hearts still break, but hope remains strong."
