Our Gift Local series provides a nearly daily cavalcade of smart, creative gift ideas designed to make your holidays merry and artful. We’re asking local tastemakers, arts leaders and curators of culture for their ideas for best bets.
Today’s Gift Giver: Craig Mince who uses his nine-to-five and volunteer gigs to connect local audiences to singular cinema experiences. He not only manages the IMAX Theater at the Indiana State Museum, but also serves as the head honcho for the Indy Film Fest.
Film fanatic Craig Mince picks an appropriately movie-ready gift recommendation - Just Pop In!'s popcorn collections.
His Recommendation: Seasonal popcorn samplers from Just Pop In!, Indianapolis’ twin spin on all things kernel. The business, which also sells its goodies to film fans at IMAX and several Indy Film Fest screening spots, is offering two specialty gift packages this year. One offers four classic flavors for $20: Sharp Cheddar, Caramel, Indy Style (a mix of the previous two flavors) and Caramel Nut Crunch. The second includes decadent chocolate choices for $25: Dark Chocolate Cherry, Cocoa Karma, Lemony Snackets and White Chocolate Peanut Butter. You can pick them up at several spots around town, but when they’re gone, they’re gone -- until they pop more.
Why: “I like to give these to those people who maybe haven’t tried all the varieties or someone who lives out of town or doesn’t go downtown very often. Giving them is like saying, ‘Here’s one of the great things that is happening in Indianapolis, and you should come down and check out all of these different organizations and shops that are just doing amazing things.'”
