Following this evening’s First Friday events and the Indianapolis Museum of Art’s opening night of the Dream Cars exhibit, you’re going to need to go straight to bed when you get home. A busy day awaits you tomorrow.
So get up early, grab the kids and leash up the dog. Saturday the Broad Ripple Farmers Market opens for the season. Head down there shortly after the roosters crow and then hightail it right over to Kids Ink Children’s Bookstore (5619 N. Illinois St.) at 10 a.m. to celebrate Independent Bookstore Day -– and the store’s 29th birthday, to boot.

Saturday (May 2nd) Mab Graves will teach origami lessons at Kids Ink in support of Independent Bookstore Day.
Special guests will include the pink-haired pop-surrealist wonder woman, Mab Graves. A book lover herself and former employee of Kids Ink, Graves will teach the coolest origami class your kids could ever take (starting at 11 a.m.). She'll also give away a special print.
Other notable guests who'll be on hand include Shannon Alexander,Lisa Aldin, Saundra Mitchell, Mike Mullin, and Trisha Leaver. There will be freebies and fun stuff to purchase -- such as, um … let’s see … BOOKS! But also the cute and cozy little store will provide yummy snacks, such as doughnuts and kale chips –- though not to be eaten together!
For more info on this event, contact Kids Ink (317) 255-2598, (open 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.). And be sure to pay a visit to all Indy’s Indie bookstores this weekend.
