TTK: The Gift of Sound and Vision

TTKs are Sky Blue Window's 'Things to Know,' events, ideas and cultural creations that we think are worthy of your time and attention.

Artists and musicians have a long history of co-inspiration. John Baldessari likes Tom Waits. Nat King Cole sang about the Mona Lisa, though Ray Evans and Jay Livingston actually wrote the song. And John Lennon did fall in love with a Fluxus artist.

This weekend, you can have your own audio-visual inspiration experience with these three First Friday events which all happen to be in one very eventful Fountain Square space - the Murphy Building:

Rooms with Our Solar System
Joyful Noise Recordings 7-10pm

Matthew Eickhoff's space-themed artwork and Rooms' heavy-handed and heartfelt post-rock songs share a double-bill in a local music label's headquarters.

White Albums & the Opposite of Lost
iMOCA

Rutherford Chang's We Buy White Albums, a collection of first pressings of, yes, The Beatles' White Album, and Nathaniel Russell's the Opposite of Lost, a collection of fake fliers - offbeat, funny, touching and/or mysterious - created by the artist, will both at iMOCA. Big Car Collaborative, SmallBox and LUNA Music are partnering on this interactive event - which will include the chance to make fake fliers and add some embellishments to fake White Albums.

Debut Photo Show & Pravada
Do317 Lounge 6-10pm

Pravada will play alongside Erica Siegel's debut photography show. Nick Williams and DJ Mike Graves (who is also an artist) will also perform.
