Our Gift Local series provides a cavalcade of smart, creative gift ideas designed to make your holidays merry and artful. We're asking local tastemakers, arts leaders and curators of culture for their ideas for best bets.

Today's Gift Giver: Craig "Dodge" Lile is a king of content and connections. From his day job at digital marketing firm Raidious to his multi-pronged role in the indie music and event scene, Lile masterfully blends online savvy and sound curation. He provides advice and "utility guy" services at MOKB Presents, Do317.com and The Hi-Fi. And he's also a dad who deejays on Sirius XMU on Tuesdays.

Lile recommends throwing clay, saying it helps him "achieve Zen" in an only half-joking tone. - DAN DARK / FOUNTAIN SQUARE CLAY CENTER

His Recommendation: In addition to his work as a senior director of marketing and all of his extracurricular gigs, Lile recently took on a new role. He's a volunteer at Fountain Square Clay Center and his time there, playing with clay, inspired his recommendation -- a seven-week pottery class at the center. It's also a gift that matches with Lile's love of giving gift cards but with a creative twist.

Why: "They have loads of space, wheels, clay and great instructors for all levels. They're really flexible and offer a lot of open studio times. Working with clay is so calming. Plus, clay is the most versatile medium around, you can do so many things with it. Working with clay is just the absolute best."
